Ailsa Lyn

Ailsa is a Suffolk artist, inspired by natural forms, repeating natural patterns and the hidden layers of our natural environment.  In particular, within the landscapes of East Anglia, with its quirky Suffolk architecture, big Constable skies and coastal towns seemingly trapped in a vintage age.  “It seems like some people feel confident with a glass in their hand.  For me, it has always been paper and pencil.  My glass was always half full – of paint water!”

She has painted in Watercolour for more than 30 years, and more recently, has begun incorporating mixed media in to her work.  This is a direct response to the abstract shapes, hidden leaves and texture in what she sees, using found papers that are upcycled by hand-painting discarded printed materials.

Ailsa has had her work published in several news articles including Artist and Illustrators’ magazine and the SAA “Paint” publication.  She was selected finalist at the Castle Fine Art Gallery, Cambridge and exhibits her paintings across East Anglia as well as at several Art Societies.  She also takes her collage crafts, original watercolour cards and jewellery to a selection of Craft Fairs and runs workshops and demonstrations for Art Groups.

In this general catalogue we publish just a few examples of Ailsa's work, with most of the exhibits currently available being shown in our website shop.  If you live close by, or are on holiday in the area, do visit the Gallery itself where you should enjoy a relaxed browse through our East Anglian Artists' creations.
