Greta Hansen - Watercolour, Pastels and Etching

Greta trained at Ipswich Art School, Central St Martins and London University and has taught art for 30 years at various schools in London and East Anglia.  She has also taught art and pottery in adult education and currently tutors an adult art group.

As well as etching, collographs, lino and woodcuts Greta also works in watercolour and pastels.  She has had one man exhibitions in Ipswich and Haughley and has exhibited at various venues in West London and Suffolk, participating in Suffolk Open Studios for several years.   Her work has been shown in Bath, Rye, Lincoln, Snape, Great Walsingham, Holkham, Aldeburgh and Gainsborough’s House in Sudbury where Greta is a member of the Printmaking group.

For the last few years Greta has concentrated on the technique of Relief Printing and  became a member of the Suffolk Craft Society.  She uses the reduction method and often works from dark to light. She particularly likes the colour effects which can be achieved with transparent inkings, often quite unexpected.

The landscape and coastline of East Anglia has been Greta's main inspiration throughout my work.  She loves the process of developing a sketch made in situ into a design for a print.

In this general catalogue we publish just a few examples of Greta's work, with most of the exhibits currently available being shown in our website shop.  If you live close by, or are on holiday in the area, do visit the Gallery itself where you should enjoy a relaxed browse through our East Anglian Artists' creations
