Bill Hiskett
Bill Hiskett has lived in Sudbury for the last 25 years after moving there from Braintree, he combines working at a sign and graphics company with his love of photography which through a happy set of co-incidences led him to start photographing musical events, mainly classical and youth music concerts in and around London at some of the top concert halls in the country.
He started taking landscape photography seriously in 2011 after shooting his ever popular “Wintery Lane” image and realising how much more there was to photography than just recording events. His regular stomping ground is the area known as The Water Meadows in Sudbury where a lot of his images come from, however he is always keen to widen his horizons and is not shy of venturing further afield with images from places as far apart as the highlands of Scotland and rural Essex appearing in his portfolio.
Digital manipulation is not a major part of his work, if a picture needs more than a few minutes spent on it then it's not good enough to start with. Some images may be a combination of 2 or 3 exposures to capture highlights and lowlights in good detail and he is a fan of stitched panoramic photos to give a higher quality wide landscape vista than a single exposure could leave but generally the image you see is how it was on the day.
Both colour and monochrome photography styles are embraced with open arms with Bill selecting the best format for each image, he is also a fan of extreme crops eliminating the parts of images that don't really need to be seen or don't add to the image. He has recently started an experiment with infra-red photography, a method of seeing things in a way the human eye cannot do so, it can result in dramatic black and white images, a lot more is to come this way I am sure.
In this general catalogue we publish just a few examples of Bill's work, with most of the exhibits currently available being shown in our website shop.
