Roy N Maitland
Roy Maitland is a retired architect, from Ayr in Scotland but has spent his career mostly in Yorkshire, practising in both the public and private sectors, with commercial, housing and educational projects across the UK from the north of Scotland to Cornwall.
His enduring interest however is in historical buildings and townscapes, which originally took him to York City Council in the 1980s, initially as assistant and later as chief architect. Retiring from the pressures of large private practices to Suffolk in 2017 to be closer to family.
This move therefore presented an opportunity to pursue his townscape interests in pen and ink drawings with watercolour. Subjects thus far have included Venetian and Yorkshire scenes, but he is working to develop pictures of local Suffolk village views.
