Eileen Williams - Felt Pictures
My working life has been varied, taking me down many different paths. Running through this has always been my passion for teaching yoga and meditation with me continuing to teach meditation and relaxation on a one to one basis. I gained my degree later in life and this led me into social work with young people and becoming a foster carer.
My love for wool began as a child when I spent many long summers on a smallholding in Wales, the influence of these experiences now showing through my work. I began knitting and crocheting at a very early age and as an adult enjoyed spinning and weaving. When I retired I discovered the art of needle felting and this encouraged me to explore the use of wool in a different way, leading me in a new and exciting direction.
I love the feel and texture of the wool and have created bunting, bookmarks, Christmas tree decorations as well as large and small pictures.
Inspiration for my work comes from the varying aspects of the Suffolk countryside where I take regular walks. I also love to observe the night sky from my garden and I still visit Wales at every opportunity where I never fail be inspired.
