Hanging art slate, this one with a Kestrel design, Approx dimensions 18" x 9". The slate is mainly quarried in the UK with the birds hand painted in acrylic. Ideal for hanging on a wall where domestic space is more limited or for displaying in a separate stand.
To the cleaned slate I apply a carefully chosen colour blocked background depending on the specific design. The birds, in one of their natural settings, are subsequently painted to the level of detail I apply to my traditional work. After drying, the finishing and protection will be achieved by two coats of varnish, which brings out the colours even more. Finally, the secure hanging disc is attached.
