Eileen Wells - Fabric Artist
My artwork portrays my great love of nature, in particular the exquisite beauty of flowers. I enjoy working with watercolours and my paintings attempt to capture the vibrant colour and pattern of the floral world. At Middlesex University I studied a B. Ed. Honours degree specialising in Art and Design. Whilst there I experimented with different art techniques and discovered that my floral designs worked well on fabric, particularly silk. I hand paint scarves, cushion covers, sarongs and curtains in a myriad of colours and floral pattern. Using fabric paint I sometimes work straight on to the fabric or I develop the design on paper first then reproduce it on either silk or cotton, by hand. As a result, each and every one of my designs is unique.
I have been a member of the "Guild of Silk Painters" and have exhibited and sold my work in Kent and Suffolk. I find great inspiration for my art in my cottage garden and also in the stunning Suffolk countryside which has become my home since childhood.
